The insert begins at about nucleotide 6000 of the published sequence and includes an XhoI site at 6043 and a PstI site at 7339. This probe encodes an epitope of collagen type VI since it was identified by immunoscreening a lambda gt11 library. The insert encodes approximately the 3 900 bp of the triple-helical domain and sequences 3 to that. This probe detects the following genomic TaqI fragments (kb): Human--5.6, 3.0, 2.5, 2.3, 2.0, 1.8; Chinese hamster--6.6, 3.0; mouse--4.4, 3.0. This probe detects mRNAs of about 8.5 to 9.2 kb in human fibroblasts. |
