| Comments: | Insert contains an internal PstI site. Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): BamHI/BglII--2.2, 0.6; PstI--1.8, 0.96; BamHI--2.8. Encodes a 20 kDa protein product in Escherichia coli, corresponding to the expected molecular weight of unglycosylated interferon beta. Demonstrates anti-viral activity (inhibition of cytopathic effect using VSV and human fibroblasts). Constructed by inserting a lacZ promoter (derivative of lac95 portable promoter) upstream of Bal31-digested pre-interferon beta cDNA. |
