Expresses beta-galactosidase activity in E. coli, S. cerevisiae, and mouse cells, and thus can be used as a control to calibrate transformation efficiency. Shuttle reporter plasmid. Constructed by inserting a BamHI/SalI fragment from pMC1403 (lac operon beginning at codon 9 of lacZ) between the BamHI/BalI (SalI-linkered) sites of pCYM0.
