| Comments: | Closely related immunologically with LGV Type L III. Note that activities with high potential for aerosol production require BSL 3 facilities and practices. Suggested protocol for propagation: Add glass beads and vortex preparation to disrupt cells. Infect monolayer with disrupted material. Centrifuge at 3000 x rpm (750 x g) for 1 hour. Feed with fresh growth medium containing FBS prescreened for Chlamydia antibodies and 1-2 ug/mL cycloheximide. Incubate at 37°C for 48 hours. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) at ATCC on the McCoy cell line (ATCC® CRL-1696™) used as the host has shown the presence of Mus Musculus mobilized endogenous polytropic provirus and Murine leukemia virus. |
| Effect on Host: | Intracellular inclusion bodies visualized by fluorescent staining with genus or species specific monoclonal antibodies or Giemsa |
| Recommended Host: | McCoy cells (ATCC® CRL-1696™)
HeLa 229 cells (ATCC® CCL-2.1™) |
| Growth Conditions: | Temperature: 36.5°C Incubation: 2 days at 37°C |
