| Comments: | This item is highly infectious in vivo and produces a rapid inversion of the CD4+/CD8+ receptor ratio in infected cats. Viral reverse transcriptase is Mg-dependent. |
| Effect on Host: | CPE, syncytia and cell lysis |
| Recommended Host: | MYA-1 cells (ATCC® CRL-2417™) |
| Growth Conditions: |
Temperature: 37°C Recommendations for Infection: For best results, pre-treat cells with 25 µg/mL DEAE-Dextran (MP Biomedicals 02195133) for 30 minutes at 23°C. Prepare dilution of virus in minimum amount of volume (e.g. 1 mL per 25 cm2). Add virus dilution to host cells and rock or gently vortex every 15-20 minutes for the first 1-2 hours of incubation at 37°C. Re-suspend cells at an appropriate density. Incubate at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere. Incubation:xa012-21 days at 37°C in a humidified 5% CO2 atmosphere, until CPE is progressed through 80% of the culture. |
