The cells are reported to contain an integrated human papillomavirus type 16 genome (HPV-16, about 600 copies per cell) as well as sequences related to HPV-18. NOTE: Virology taxonomy has discontinued use of the family name "Papovaviridae," which includes the term "Papovavirus." Instead, this former family name, "Papovaviridae," has now been split into two distinct and separate families, "Papillomaviridae" and "Polyomaviridae." As such, all cultures containing HPV should be noted to contain "Papillomavirus" (signifying its origin from the "Papillomaviridae" family) instead of the former "Papovavirus." |
| Complete Growth Medium: | The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated RPMI-1640 Medium, ATCC 30-2001. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum (ATCC 30-2020) to a final concentration of 10%.
