Biosafety classification is based on U.S. Public Health Service Guidelines, it is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that their facilities comply with biosafety regulations for their own country. |
| Disease: | sarcoma |
| Strain: | C57BL/6 |
| Applications: | The cells can be used to investigate signal transduction pathways involved in tumorigenesis and angiogenesis. |
| Storage Conditions: | liquid nitrogen vapor phase |
| Derivation: | MS1 VEGF was derived from MS1 cells (ATCC CRL-2279) by retroviral infection of the cells with a vector encoding primate vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). MS1 cells were derived from primary islet endothelial cells that were transduced with a temperature sensitive SV40 large T antigen (tsA-58-3) and screened for resistance to G418. |
| Comments: | These cells demonstrate that VEGF can transform cells in vivo.xa0They give rise to slow growing angiosarcomas in vivo and they demonstrate an autocrine loop between VEGF and VEGFR2.
|
| Complete Growth Medium: | The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbeccos Modified Eagles Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 5%.
|
| Subculturing: | Volumes used in this protocol are for 75 cm2 flask; proportionally reduce or increase amount of dissociation medium for culture vessels of other sizes.
Subcultivation Ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:4 to 1:6 is recommended Note: For more information on enzymatic dissociation and subculturing of cell lines consult Chapter 10 in Culture of Animal Cells, a Manual of Basic Technique by R. Ian Freshney, 3rd edition, published by Alan R. Liss, N.Y., 1994. |
| Cryopreservation: | Culture medium 95%; DMSO, 5%. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X. |
| Culture Conditions: | Temperature: 37°C |
