| Age: | 100 days |
| Gender: | male |
| Strain: | C3H/An |
| Applications: | This cell line is a suitable transfection host. |
| Storage Conditions: | liquid nitrogen vapor phase |
| Karyotype: | modal number = 45; range = 42 to 48. The stemline chromosome number is hyperdiploid with the 2S component occurring at 3.8%. Twenty-one markers were common to nearly all S metaphases studied. Of these, 13 were two-armed chromosomes, and eight, acrocentric. Four markers were isochromosomes by Robertsonian translocations from chromosomes 4, 12, 14 and 15. Normal X, 12, 14, 15 and 16 were absent. The X chromosome was present as an arm of Rb(X.3). (See Cancer Genet. Cytogenet. 24: 95-107, 1987 for a detailed karyotype description.) Note: Cytogenetic information is based on initial seed stock at ATCC. Cytogenetic instability has been reported in the literature for some cell lines. |

| Antigen Expression: | H-2k |
| Tumorigenic: | Yes, Tumors developed within 21 days at 100% frequency (5/5) in nude mice inoculated subcutaneously with 10exp7 cells |
| Effects: | Yes, in nude mice (Tumors developed within 21 days at 100% frequency (5/5) in nude mice inoculated subcutaneously with 10(7) cells) |
| Comments: | The cells are 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine resistant (BUDR, BrdUrd) and thymidine kinase (TK) deficient, HAT sensitive. Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
|
| Complete Growth Medium: | The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbeccos Modified Eagles Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
|
| Subculturing: | Volumes are given for a 75 cm2 flask. Increase or decrease the amount of dissociation medium needed proportionally for culture vessels of other sizes.
Subcultivation Ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:4 to 1:8 is recommended
