| Disease: | lymphoma |
| Strain: | AKR/J |
| Storage Conditions: | liquid nitrogen vapor phase |
| Derivation: | This line is a clone of the BW5147 cell line which was established from a spontaneous AKR/J thymoma. |
| Antigen Expression: | H-2k; Thy-1.1 |
| Comments: | The cells are HAT resistant but sensitive to 0.001 mM cortisol and to 25 mcg/mL PHA. Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox). |
| Complete Growth Medium: | The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbeccos Modified Eagles Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: horse serum to a final concentration of 10%.
|
| Subculturing: | Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 1 x 105xa0viable cells/mL. Maintain cultures at a cell concentration between 1 x 105 and 1 x 106xa0cells/mL. Do not allow the cell concentration to exceed 2 x 106xa0cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (depending on cell density). |
| Cryopreservation: | Complete growth medium 95%; DMSO, 5%.xa0Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
|
| Culture Conditions: | Temperature: 37°C
Atmosphere: 5% CO2 |
