| Disease: | Neuroblastoma, Glioblastoma |
| Age: | embryo |
| Strain: | NIH/Swiss |
| Storage Conditions: | liquid nitrogen vapor phase |
| Derivation: | This line was established by A.L. Schechter et al. in 1984 by transfecting NIH/3T3 cells with EcoR1 digested DNA from the rat neuroblastoma cell line B-104. |
| Comments: | The cells contain the neu transforming gene which codes for a 185000 dalton antigen designated p185. The p185 protein is strongly associated with the presence of glioblastoma and neuroblastoma oncogenes. The neu oncogene is homologous to the erb-B oncogene, and p185 is serologically similar to the epidermal growth factor receptor. |
| Complete Growth Medium: | ATCC formulated DMEM (ATCC®xa030-2002) supplemented with 10% bovine calf serumxa0(ATCC®xa030-2030) |
| Subculturing: | Volumes used in this protocol are for 75 cm2 flasks; proportionally reduce or increase amount of dissociation medium for culture vessels of other sizes.
Subcultivation Ratio: A subcultivation ratio of 1:100 is recommended Note: For more information on enzymatic dissociation and subculturing of cell lines consult Chapter 13 in Culture Of Animal Cells: A Manual Of Basic Technique by R.
