This insert is closely linked to the centromere of human chromosome 1.
This probe detects a band of 7.4 kb in EcoRI-digested genomic DNA from human cell line HT1080 and in several human-hamster hybrids that contain an intact human chromosome 1.
The insert was derived from a minichromosome which includes the centromere of human chromosome 1.
