| Derivation: | HCC1395 BL is a B lymphoblastoid cell line initiated by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) transformation of peripheral blood lymphocytes obtained from the same patient as the breast carcinoma cell line HCC1395.xa0 The cell line was initiated from a 43-year-old white female with a TNM stage I, grade 3 primary ductal carcinoma and a prior history of cancer; her mother had breast cancer. |

| Comments: | This cell line is also available at ATCC as (ATCC CRL-2322). |
| Complete Growth Medium: | The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Iscoves Modified Dulbeccos Medium, Catalog No. 30-2005. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 20%.
|
| Subculturing: | Cultures can be maintained by addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension in fresh medium at 5 x 105 viable cells/mL. Maintain cultures at cell concentrations between 5 x 105 and 2 x 106 viable cells/mL.
Medium Renewal: Add fresh medium every 2 to 3 days (depending on cell density). |
| Cryopreservation: | Complete growth medium, 95%; DMSO, 5%. Cell culture tested DMSO is available as ATCC Catalog No. 4-X.
|
| Culture Conditions: | Temperature: 37°C
Atmosphere: Air, 95%; Carbon dioxide (CO2), 5% |
